1 John 2:9 -11
He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now. 10 He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. 11 But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.
Commentary:
This small passage of scripture is a great passage. Good things often come in small packages. This passage of holy scripture is a measuring stick by which we can measure our Christianity or discipleship.
Some people say I accept Christ as my personal Savior and then they are Christians and that is the end of that. Of course there are born again Christians who live a life time of great discipleship.
According to this passage of bible scripture we cannot say we walk in the light (light of Christ) and hate our brother (or hate anyone with whom we know or hate anyone at all).
If we are to walk in the light of the love of our Redeemer we have to love our brother, sister or mankind. In fact if we are real followes of the Master or King of Kings then it comes almost natural to love our fellow man. I said almost natural. After all we are human and that has a tendancy to pull us down where following and loving the Savior pulls us up.
As we work on loving one another that helps to pull us up to higher ground. It helps us to develop like Christ did, line upon line, precept upon precept to becoming more like Christ.
We don’t want to hate our brother or sister becasue “he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.” We don’t want to walk aimlessly in darkness. We hopefully all want to walk in the light of Christ and partake of His healing love.
This passage and these thoughts call further thoughts to mind. Christians have a powerful influence in politics. In politics it seems that their is love and hate abounding all over the place. But if we are putting Jesus first in our lives and striving to be like Jesus and loving our brothers and sisters we can hate them during elections cycles or when these politicians do something we don’t like. We don’t wan to walk in darkness, do we? I don’t but I have to confess having hateful feeling towards politicians who promote abortion, gay rights and immoral life styles.
That is not very Christian of me but thanks be to our Father in Heaven that he is willing to forgive me based on my repentance. Which I need to do. I hope we as Christians can be above board nad love our enimies and pray for them and be actively involved in politics with respect, love and civility. Lets us cast our hate from our mind, our heart and our soul.

Choose The Right Christian Hymn
Choose The Right
Choose the right when a choice is placed before you.
In the right the Holy Spirit guides;
And its light is forever shining o’er you,
When in the right your heart confides.
Choose the right! Choose the right!
Let wisdom mark the way before.
In its light, choose the right!
And God will bless you evermore.
Choose the right! Let no spirit of digression
Overcome you in the evil hour.
There’s the right and the wrong to ev’ry question;
Be safe thru inspiration’s pow’r.
Choose the right! Choose the right!
Let wisdom mark the way before.
In its light, choose the right!
And God will bless you evermore.
Choose the right! There is peace in righteous doing.
Choose the right! There’s safety for the soul.
Choose the right in all labors you’re pursuing;
Let God and heaven be your goal.
Choose the right! Choose the right!
Let wisdom mark the way before.
In its light, choose the right!
And God will bless you evermore.
