40 Facts of Noah, the Ark and the Flood.
Recently a blockbuster movie was released called “NOAH” starring Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly and Anthony Hopkins. It was an interesting movie to see but when compared with the real Biblical events of the story of Noah and the flood, in was very disappointing and very misleading.
When watching Russell Crowes Noah movie, I remembered another movie about Noah, a “made for TV mini series about Noah. It was a two-part mini series starring Jon Voight and Mary Steenburger. It came out in 1999.
Both movies claimed “creative license” when telling the story of the great prophet Noah and the epic flood. Frankly, the story is compelling enough not to need much creative license. The more I thought about these two movies the more frustrated I became. I thought to justify the existence of these two movies by saying at least it is getting people to talk about this great Old Testament story of faith and obedience. But I fear the talk will further perpetuate the vast errors of the great story or Noah.
So what I have done, is gone through pretty much all of the major scripture passages in the Bible and created a fact list of Noah and all the known events surrounding the flood.
FACTS ABOUT NOAH, THE ARK AND FLOODS AND RELATED EVENTS
At the time Heavenly Father spoke to Noah about building an ark and saving the Animal Kingdom and his family from utter destruction the earth was evil and corrupt with abounding wickedness. At the same time the population of the earth was involved in their own lives like every other day in spite of Noah preaching to them. Let’s take a closer look.
Condition of the earth and the population therein:
1. “The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.” (Genesis 6:11-12) There were only eight righteous people on the earth that qualified to be saved. Noah and his wife. Their three sons and their wives.
2. No was a preacher of righteousness. (2 Peter 2:5) Therein lies a safe assumption that Noah preached to the people and the people had a chance to believe the word of God.
3. “For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,” (Matthew 24:38, Luke 17:26-27)
4. God was longsuffering towards the people who live upon the earth. All the wicked had a chance for repentance while the Ark was being prepared. (1 Peter 3:20)

Come, Listen To A Prophets Voice; Christian Hymn
Come, Listen To A Prophets Voice
1. Come, listen to a prophet’s voice,
And hear the word of God,
And in the way of truth rejoice,
And sing for joy aloud.
We’ve found the way the prophets went
Who lived in days of yore.
Another prophet now is sent
This knowledge to restore.
2. The gloom of sullen darkness spread
Thru earth’s extended space
Is banished by our living Head,
And God has shown his face.
Thru erring schemes in days now past
The world has gone astray;
Yet Saints of God have found at last
The straight and narrow way.
3. ’Tis not in man they put their trust
Nor on his arm rely.
Full well assured, all are accursed
Who Jesus Christ deny.
The Savior to his people saith,“Let all my words obey,
And signs shall follow living faith,
Down to the latest day.”
4. Then heed the words of truth and light
That flow from fountains pure.
Yea, keep His law with all thy might
Till thine election’s sure,
Till thou shalt hear the holy voice
Assure eternal reign,
While joy and cheer attend thy choice,
As one who shall obtain.
